H545: Trick or Treat and more Halloween Fun

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif@ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of Tea, Caitlin  @ Coffee With Caitlin and myself. We're glad you're here!

This week's featured blogger is Erin @ Chasing Roots. Erin is a wife, mother and writer who lives in Texas. She has a recent post called Making Over Our Traditions . It's about no matter where you are you can still carry on Traditions. I loved this post and I know you will too. Don't forget to stop by and say hello to Erin.

I feel like this week has been a week long celebration of Halloween. Our little family loves the holidays so we certainly try to make the best of every holiday. Anyway let's rewind to my Friday Favorites.

1) I finally received my Target Beauty Box and I absolutely loved it. It had so many wonderful things in it, especially the eyeliner and lipstick. I wish Target would offer these more often.

2) It has been a week for making delicious Halloween treats. I made these cute cupcakes for a friend of mine's head start class.

3)  Did you see the Pumpkin Patch Pudding that I posted on the blog this week? You can grab the recipe here. It's the perfect dessert for a Halloween Party, Church or family gathering.

4) Raylan had to have a Halloween outfit of the day this week. He looks so handsome and grown up here.

5) Last night was Trick or Treat. Raylan went as Scooby Doo. It's his favorite right now. He says Dooby Doo all day long. He had so much fun trick or treating and got a good collection of Scooby Snacks.

I might be biased but he is the cutest Scooby that I have ever seen. Our little family had so much fun trick or treating. Last year Raylan was so little, but this year we just had a wonderful time.

Also please continue to keep my dad in your prayers. He started Kidney Dialysis this week and it has been hard on him. He needs all the prayers he can get. I'm still praying for a complete healing for my dad. With God all things are possible!

Thanks for linking up! Have a great and safe Halloween weekend. May God bless you!

Halloween Style For The Casual Witch!

If you know me, then you know that I love the holidays. Every year I get so giddy when the holidays are near. I love the traditions and everything in general about  them. One tradition in particular that I truly enjoy is watching Hocus Pocus every Halloween. Hocus Pocus is my all time favorite movie! I mean how can you not love those witches? So this year for Halloween, my friend Tif from Bright on a Budget and I thought it would be fun to mix in a little casual  Halloween style to go along with our favorite movie and to celebrate Halloween. Don't forget to visit Tif's blog to see how she is styling her witchy look!

When I first saw this sweatshirt, I knew I had to have it. I found this lovely "I put a spell on You" sweatshirt at TeesandTankyou shop on Etsy.

It is just so comfy and cute. It is also pretty warm I might add. I love how adorable they made the Sanderson Sisters look along with Binx.

I paired it with these amazing Pull On Fleece Lined Leggings from Maurices which are also very warm. They are a must have for these cool fall days and for the winter days to come. I highly recommend everyone own a pair of these

I wanted my shoes to match my sweatshirt so I slipped on my white Coach boat shoes

An outfit isn't an outfit without accessories so I added my Black Origami Owl Necklace and added my little orange pumpkin charm to represent Fall and Halloween.

A witch outfit just isn't complete without some type of witch accessory.  I found these adorable Witch Earrings at Walmart for only $3. Don't you just love them?

I tried to keep my outfit comfy and cute with just the perfect touch for Halloween.  What do you think? How did I represent our favorite Witches? Don't forget to hop on over to Tif's blog to see how she is styling her look!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

I love the age that Raylan is now. There are just so many fun things that we can do together. We have had a blast this fall.  Last year he wasn't walking when fall rolled around, so we really couldn't participate in many fall activities. But this year we sure have. Last weekend, Justin and I took Raylan to his first trip to the pumpkin patch and he loved it. We took him to White Oak Pumpkin Patch in West Liberty, Ky. If you are ever in this area around fall, White Oak Pumpkin Patch is a must see.

They have a petting zoo. Raylan absolutely loved all of the animals except for the cows. The moo sound that they made scared him. I guess because he was so close to them lol

He loved the horses

He liked the donkeys

This donkey had the cutest name. It made my day seeing this sign. Needless to say, I had a good laugh.

There were rabbits, pigs, llamas and any other animal that you could think of. But his favorite of all were the goats.

He wanted to get right in there with them.

He threw a tantrum when we made him leave to go look at other parts of the pumpkin patch. He really wanted to stay with the goats. I wish I had gotten a picture of his tantrum lol. For whatever reason, he was amazed by them.

The pumpkin patch also had a tire maze that he really enjoyed.

And tire swings which he had so much fun on.

The Pumpkin Patch also offered hay rides, pumpkin painting, a corn chute, slides and many other activities for children of all ages. They had a store that you could purchase pumpkins from if you didn't feel like packing around a pumpkin from the patch. They also had a mini restaurant were you could purchase hot dogs, nachos and other snacks.

Raylan was amazed by so many pumpkins in the field.

I loved seeing his little face light up amongst all those pumpkins.

He did his best to pick up the pumpkins

But gave up and decided to roll it instead lol. I absolutely love this picture of him attempting to roll the pumpkin.

Our little family had such a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back again next year.

See this is one of the many reasons why fall is my favorite. There are just so many fun things you can do during fall, not to mention all the beautiful colors of fall too.

I just wanted to share our Pumpkin Patch Fun with you. Thanks for stopping by! God Bless You!

Pumpkin Patch Pudding

With the upcoming holidays, I have been in a baking and dessert making mood this week. I just love all the beautiful and delicious foods that you only get around the holidays. Over the weekend, my husband and I took our son to his first trip to the Pumpkin Patch; which he loved by the way. Well this trip inspired me to make this dessert. I present to you Pumpkin Patch Pudding...

Here is what you will need in order to make this amazingly delicious treat:

2- 8oz tubs of  Cool Whip or one 16oz tub.
2- 3.4 oz boxes of Instant Vanilla Pudding or one 5.1oz box
3-Cups of Milk
1-Package of Oreos
1-bag of Mellowcreme Pumpkins or Candy Corn Pumpkins

I'm using Save a Lot brands here but they are the same thing.

Directions:

  • Mix the Vanilla Pudding but instead of the directions on the box, only add 3 cups of milk.
  • Then mix the cool whip into the pudding.
  • Next add orange food coloring

  • Then add a few crushed up oreos into the pudding and cool whip mixture. Mix thoroughly!
  • Last layer your container of choice with oreos on the bottom like so

  • Then pour pudding mixture over oreos and continue with another layer of oreos and so on.
  • Finally top it off with Candy Corn Pumpkins
I love how the oreos and the candy corn make it look like pumpkins in the dirt. It's the perfect treat for any Fall Occasion. I made one for ourselves to enjoy at home and I'm making one for our church homecoming this Sunday. Both Kids and Adults can enjoy this simple yet delicious fall dessert.

Enjoy! Let me know if you try this recipe!

High Five For Friday

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif@ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of Tea, Caitlin  @ Coffee With Caitlin and myself. We're glad you're here!

This week's featured blogger is Lindsay @ Pursuit of Pink. Lindsay is a Christian, wife, mom and lover of all things pink. She loves fashion and home decor. I love her recent post about her Halloween Decor. Her decorations are so adorable. Please stop by and say hello to Lindsay!

This was a fairly good week. I feel like we have done a lot of fall festivities which is alright by me. Fall is so much fun! We have had a great weather too so I can't complain.

1) Although this is not on my list of favorites at all, however, it relates to my dad and he is one of my favorites. Please pray for my dad. His blood work came back bad so he has to start dialysis immediately. If  his kidney specialist can get everything together today, then he will start today. Please put him on your prayer chains. He really needs all the prayers he can get.

2) Over the weekend, Justin and I took Raylan to the pumpkin patch and he absolutely loved it. He didn't want to leave. I plan on posting about our pumpkin patch fun next week so stay tuned.

3) Over the summer, I fell out of my baking groove. Well this week I found my groove again. I guess it's because the holidays are near and I love the holidays. I made these Candy Apple Cake Pops and they were so delicious. Definitely a highlight for the week!

4) Raylan painted his first pumpkin. He had so much fun and so did Justin and I. Raylan did a great job! He wanted to use all of the paint and make it multi-colored.

5) Raylan had his first trip to The Pumpkin House and he was amazed! Normally we go to one that is about an hour away, but this year we decided to try out a local one that just started this year. I thought they did good for the first year. I was impressed!

See I told you it was a week filled with fall activities! We have had so much fun.

* Don't forget our next Google Hangout is this Sunday night October 25th at 9:30. It would have been yesterday but we had to postpone. Don't forget to join us!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a relaxing, joy filled weekend! May God Bless You!

Nut-Free Halloween Candy

Since Raylan was diagnosed with a severe nut allergy back in April at only 14 months old, we knew the upcoming Halloween would be so tricky and scary. He is allergic to Peanuts and Tree Nuts. Just about any candy that you see either contains nuts or has been manufactured on the same equipment that nuts have been on. We knew that we would have to examine every little piece of candy for the rest of his trick or treating years. Being a food allergy parent is so hard at times, but I can't even begin to imagine how hard it is on the child. I wanted to make the life of a nut allergy parent and child just a little bit easier, so I have put together a list of nut-free treats that children can have for Halloween. This list is also good for anyone who is giving out candy on Halloween as well. You never know what child may come to your home with a nut allergy.

Note:  Always double check the packages for ingredients and allergen warnings before giving to an allergic child. You never know what ingredients could have changed.

High Five For Friday

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif@ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of Tea, Caitlin  @ Coffee With Caitlin and myself. We're glad you're here!

This week's featured blogger is Stasia @ Our Life on a budget. Stasia is a follower of Christ, wife and mom. She blogs about how to budget. She has a series called the budgeting diaries. She also blogs about toddler life, family life and faith. She recently posted a neat thing that she has called a prayer wall. Be sure to stop by her blog to check out the prayer wall and say hello.

This week I have been under the weather with a yucky sore throat and ear ache, but I have still managed to make the most of it. Besides being sick, I have had a fairly good week. I really can't complain. God is too good for us to complain. Anyway, let's rewind to my favorites from this week.

1) Last weekend, One of my best friends and I managed to get together for some girl time which is very rare if you are a mom lol. We hit up our favorite stores and came away with some awesome deals. We also ate Mexican which is my favorite. Then, I went to Smart Style and had my hair cut even shorter. I had planned on letting it grow but I got in one of these random moods and decided I wanted it shorter lol. Oh well! I like being random like that lol. Short hair is so much easier!

2) On Saturday, my dad, brother, Raylan and I went to Durbin Farms. At Durbin Farms, they make delicious Sorghum, honey, apple butter and other southern treats. Raylan had his first taste of Sorghum and he loved it. He kept saying "More More!" He also loved all of their decor. We all had a great time.

3) Look at this beautiful sight that I captured. Isn't God's coloring book amazing? This is why I Love Fall!

4) Justin and I finished painting our teal pumpkin. The teal pumpkin should be placed at homes and businesses to make Halloween a little less scary for parents of food allergy kids like myself. This pumpkin lets parents know that you offer non-food treats such as stickers, stencils, coloring books, toys and etc for food allergy kids. Please place a teal pumpkin out at your home. Halloween should be safe and fun for all kids!

For more information on the teal pumpkin project please visit http://www.foodallergy.org/teal-pumpkin-project#.ViByvfmrTIU

5) I snapped this adorable picture of Raylan. He is your typical man eating and watching tv lol! Gosh! He is growing up way too fast on me.

Well that's it for this week. I hope everyone has a safe and blessed weekend. It's cold in our area, so stay warm. Thanks for linking up! God bless you!
