The Benefits of Story Time Programs

Last year when Raylan was only two, I enrolled him into the Story Time Program at our local Library. I had heard and seen on social media all of the fun things that they were doing with the youth, and decided to give it a try.  I knew it would be fun but I did not realize all that he would benefit from it.

Relaxed Summer Style

I like Summer, but I do not enjoy the heat. So when it comes to fashion, I keep things very minimal and basic in the summer to keep from burning up. You could say that my style is very relaxed.

How to Have Fun This Summer on a Small Budget

Summer is already almost halfway over. It seems like it has flown by. You're probably wondering how you have let the summer slip by without doing anything fun. If you're like my family, it's hard to do much when you're on a small budget.  However, this summer has been anything but boring. Here is how my family has had fun this summer on a small budget.

11 things I've Learned from 8 years of Marriage

Today Justin and I celebrate 8 years of marriage. Before marriage, we were high school sweethearts and dated for 5 years. Marriage is such a beautiful thing, but it's not always a walk in the park. Here is what I've learned from 8 years of Marriage.

Day Trips in Kentucky: Carr Creek Lake

Having lived in Eastern Kentucky for nearly 30 years, I had never heard of Carr Creek Lake State Park. Recently, I was on instagram and saw some breathtaking pictures taken by a lady who lives in the same county as I do. I asked her where they were taken and she told me Carr Creek Lake State Park. I googled the name of the park, and to my surprise it was only an hour and a half away from me. How had I never heard of this place before, especially with it being so close? So my best friend Melissa and I took off one day to find such a beautiful place.

High Five For Friday- Fireworks & Nature Trails

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif @ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of TeaBecky @ BYBMG   and myself. We're glad you're here!

Let's recap my favorite highlights from this week...

1) We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. It was great spending time with my little family and it's nice to be able to get a photo of us, especially all of us matching.

2) Over the weekend, Justin and I took Raylan on a little nature trail. I absolutely love this photo of Raylan playing in the creek. It really showcases how the simple things in life can make a child happy. I want to have this photo put on canvas.

3) We watched some beautiful Fireworks at our town's 4th of July celebration. They play live music, have watermelon eating contests, great food and of course beautiful fireworks. It's such a great little community event.

4) This is a wedding cupcake cake that I made for last weekend. I love the Turquoise and White theme that they went with.

5) I have had finals this week and I am so exhausted. I'm hoping to do a lot of relaxing. What book or netflix suggestions do you have now that I actually get a little bit of a break?  I also hope to do some pinterest projects.

How I Style It: Rose Novelty Print

Welcome to the July installment of our "How I Style It" Blog Hop!  This is a monthly Blog Hop where we all get together to show you how we style our favorite fashion trends, and invite you to join us in showing off your passion for fashion as well!

Today we are sharing our Novelty Print Styles

I love all  novelty prints. I especially love large Novelty Prints that really make a statement. Even though the 4th of July has passed, I still want to share my red, white and blue in Novelty Print form. We can wear red, white and blue colors all year long anyway. I love how the red roses in this top really pop out with the chevron stripes. I added red pants to make the red roses stand out even more. The pattern mixing is a good thing for this top. I used to be afraid of pattern mixing, but I now find it a good and fun thing to do. Besides, fashion should always be fun and never boring! I added white shoes to keep with the theme color of the outfit and so that I wouldn't have an overload of  vibrant color . It's a fun and festive look that can be worn anywhere. The roses are perfect to wear all summer long.

To achieve this look:
Top//Rue 21
Pants// Rue 21
Jewelry// Gifted
Sandals//Thrifted

Now join in to see how the other fashionistas in this blog hop styled their Novelty Prints and check out their links below:

High Five For Friday

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif @ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of TeaBecky @ BYBMG   and myself. We're glad you're here!

Let's recap my favorite highlights from this week...

1) We took Raylan to watch Disney Cars 3. He was so excited! It was such a cute little movie. We also stopped to get Pizza at our favorite pizza place. It was a great family day.

2) My best friend had her baby this week and I can't wait to meet the little guy. I wish they lived closer so I could get to spend more time with them.

3) I have been trying hard to lose weight. I have even been exercising. I know it isn't much, but I'm proud to say that I have lost 4 pounds. At least it's a start. I'm excited!

4) We've had some cooler weather this week and it has felt like fall. Raylan and I have enjoyed being outdoors. We have had picnics and flew kites.

5) One of my other best friends and I took a little day trip and explored to a lake that we had never been to. We went to Carr Creek Lake State Park. It was such a beautiful little place. It had little waterfalls and even had it's own beach. I can't wait to take Raylan back. I know he will love the sand and water.

This week's featured blogger is Laura from Fantastically Four. Laura is a wife and a stay at home mom of two. She shares encouraging words and parenting tips on her blog. I love her most recent post titled Embracing the Messiness of Mom Life.  It's such a great read. Please stop by and say hello to Laura. You will love her blog.

Summer Brights

When I think of Summer, I think of Bright Beautiful Colors. I love the beauty that Summer brings! I also love the fun and fashionable colors that can be worn during summertime. Patterns can also be fun and bright. My main goal for summer is to keep cool because I am hot natured, so when I'm putting an outfit together for the day; cool and comfort is my main goal. This Summer Brights outfit is my favorite for coolness, comfort and style.

I love the pattern mixing and bright colors from this Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic Tank. Anything Lilly puts me in the mood for the beach or summer fun. The mint from this tank is a perfect match with the shorts. All of these colors scream summer fun! Of course, I had to add in some bright accessories as well.  It's such a comfortable outfit that can be worn anywhere. It's great for date night, a day at the park or at the race track.

What Summer Brights are your favorite this year?

To achieve this look:

Lilly Pulitzer Luxletic Tank//Gift
Shorts//Old Navy
Dexter Lilac Sandals//Thrifted
Bangle//The Navy Knot
Necklace//Thrifted

Homemade Snow Cone Syrup

My whole family loves Snow Cones. In fact, there is nothing better on a hot summer day than a nice cold snow cone to cool you down. We used to get several over the summer but that ran into money. We are saving money by making our own and now we get to enjoy delicious snow cones all summer long.

7 Bible Verses for when you're Overwhelmed

We have all been overwhelmed before and it is a terrible feeling. We may be overwhelmed from sickness, finances, school, marriage, jobs or anything. The truth is there will always be something that can overwhelm a person. Sometimes we feel like just giving up and throwing in the towel but God doesn't want us to do that. There is hope in Christ alone. He gives us his Holy Word to reassure us and calm our fears. Here are 7 Bible Verses to read when you're overwhelmed.

Summer Bucket List

While Fall is my favorite Season, Summer is my second favorite. I don't like the hot weather because I am hot natured, but I do love all of the fun activities that you can do during the Summer months. There is just so many more things that a person can do during Summertime that you can't do during other seasons. Now that Raylan is 3, he is old enough to participate in many fun activities and make wonderful memories. So, I have compiled a Bucket List of things that I would like for us to do with him this Summer.

No Bake Strawberry Pie

I love Strawberry Pie, especially during the Summer. There is nothing better on a hot day, than a delicious piece of Pie. If you are looking for something easy and festive to make for your fourth of July celebration, this is the perfect recipe for you. It's a no bake treat that will save you from having to fire up the oven, but most of all it is delicious and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Vintage Gold Leggings

*I received these leggings in exchange for a review. However, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.*

As a toddler mom and student who is always on the go, leggings are my best friend.  I love stylish apparel but I also love being comfortable. These days comfort usually wins over style, but all that has changed since I have been introduced to Legging Army. Now I can enjoy both at an affordable cost.

Food Allergy Awareness Week 2017

Our  3 year old son Raylan was diagnosed with a severe life-threatening Peanut Allergy when he was only 15 months old. We are told to stay away from all nuts because of his severity and the risks of cross-contamination. Within the last year, we have learned that Raylan also has a fish allergy.  Food allergies are a very serious matter and more awareness needs to be spread. Most people do not take Food Allergies Seriously. This week is Food Allergy Awareness week so please help me spread awareness that could help save a life.
