How to Have Fun This Summer on a Small Budget

Summer is already almost halfway over. It seems like it has flown by. You're probably wondering how you have let the summer slip by without doing anything fun. If you're like my family, it's hard to do much when you're on a small budget.  However, this summer has been anything but boring. Here is how my family has had fun this summer on a small budget.

11 things I've Learned from 8 years of Marriage

Today Justin and I celebrate 8 years of marriage. Before marriage, we were high school sweethearts and dated for 5 years. Marriage is such a beautiful thing, but it's not always a walk in the park. Here is what I've learned from 8 years of Marriage.

Day Trips in Kentucky: Carr Creek Lake

Having lived in Eastern Kentucky for nearly 30 years, I had never heard of Carr Creek Lake State Park. Recently, I was on instagram and saw some breathtaking pictures taken by a lady who lives in the same county as I do. I asked her where they were taken and she told me Carr Creek Lake State Park. I googled the name of the park, and to my surprise it was only an hour and a half away from me. How had I never heard of this place before, especially with it being so close? So my best friend Melissa and I took off one day to find such a beautiful place.

High Five For Friday- Fireworks & Nature Trails

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekly High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif @ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of TeaBecky @ BYBMG   and myself. We're glad you're here!

Let's recap my favorite highlights from this week...

1) We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. It was great spending time with my little family and it's nice to be able to get a photo of us, especially all of us matching.

2) Over the weekend, Justin and I took Raylan on a little nature trail. I absolutely love this photo of Raylan playing in the creek. It really showcases how the simple things in life can make a child happy. I want to have this photo put on canvas.

3) We watched some beautiful Fireworks at our town's 4th of July celebration. They play live music, have watermelon eating contests, great food and of course beautiful fireworks. It's such a great little community event.

4) This is a wedding cupcake cake that I made for last weekend. I love the Turquoise and White theme that they went with.

5) I have had finals this week and I am so exhausted. I'm hoping to do a lot of relaxing. What book or netflix suggestions do you have now that I actually get a little bit of a break?  I also hope to do some pinterest projects.

How I Style It: Rose Novelty Print

Welcome to the July installment of our "How I Style It" Blog Hop!  This is a monthly Blog Hop where we all get together to show you how we style our favorite fashion trends, and invite you to join us in showing off your passion for fashion as well!

Today we are sharing our Novelty Print Styles

I love all  novelty prints. I especially love large Novelty Prints that really make a statement. Even though the 4th of July has passed, I still want to share my red, white and blue in Novelty Print form. We can wear red, white and blue colors all year long anyway. I love how the red roses in this top really pop out with the chevron stripes. I added red pants to make the red roses stand out even more. The pattern mixing is a good thing for this top. I used to be afraid of pattern mixing, but I now find it a good and fun thing to do. Besides, fashion should always be fun and never boring! I added white shoes to keep with the theme color of the outfit and so that I wouldn't have an overload of  vibrant color . It's a fun and festive look that can be worn anywhere. The roses are perfect to wear all summer long.

To achieve this look:
Top//Rue 21
Pants// Rue 21
Jewelry// Gifted
Sandals//Thrifted

Now join in to see how the other fashionistas in this blog hop styled their Novelty Prints and check out their links below:
