Ever since I was a baby, my mom always taught me about Jesus. She took me to Church every Sunday Morning and Thursday night. To my mom, you had to be really sick in order to miss church. In her eyes, there was no excuse to miss church other than being sick. She read the bible to me and so many different children's bible storybooks. She instilled in me about the importance of knowing Jesus and salvation.
My mom always told me that when I had children of my own, to make sure to take them to church and tell them about Jesus. She quoted Proverbs 22:6 many times -Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. My mother did such an excellent job teaching me about Jesus. I can only hope to do the same for Raylan.
I take Raylan to church but I don't get to go as often as I would like. He is so easy to get sick. But when we can't go to church, I make sure to stick to our daily routine of praying over our meals and telling him about Jesus. We read every night. We read a bedtime story as well as a bible story. We have currently been reading Jesus Calling - A Bible Storybook by Sarah Young. This is by far one of the best children's bible story books that I have ever come across. Sarah breaks it down to a child's level and simplifies it. I love reading it to Raylan. He enjoys my reading to him as well as looking at all of the pictures. This is a storybook that I recommend anyone to purchase. Your child will learn so much about Jesus and you will learn a lot from it yourself. I know I certainly have learned far more from reading it. There are a lot of things in the bible that are hard for me to understand. After reading Jesus Calling, I feel like I am more knowledgeable with the bible.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
Psalms 34:11 - Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 3:1 - My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
Proverbs 1:8- My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Teach your children about Jesus. It's the best gift that you can ever give them. What bible storybooks do your currently read to your child?
I was recently on the hunt for a good toddler's Bible, and I saw this had excellent reviews! Glad it's creating special memories and moments for you! We have a set of The Bible Story books. They are a bit detailed/long for Elizabeth now, but she still loves them.
