That our sins may be washed away

With it being the week of Easter, I knew I wanted to do some Easter activities. One of my favorites is teaching how God forgave our sins and washed them away. Isaiah 1:18 says "Though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow." This is a great learning activity for all ages.
Here is what you will need:
-A glass of water
-Red food coloring
-1 cup of bleach

First start by teaching your children that we come into the world as a baby, pure and innocent. The glass of water represents that pureness.

Next add a few drops of red food coloring to the water. This represents how our sins can make us unclean. Our actions such as being unkind to others can cause us to sin.

So how can our sins be forgiven and how can they be washed away and made white as snow?

Start by pouring a cup of bleach into the glass of red water.  The cup of bleach represents Christ's atonement and the red represents our sins. Watch the red disappear before your eyes.

Soon the water was clear and pure again. The atonement really can happen that fast. God can change us in a blink of an eye. We just have to ask for his forgiveness and ask him to change us.

Teach your children how God sent his son to forgive us of our sins and make then white as snow.

This weeks featured blogger is Nancy@NY Foodie Family. It's a great blog. Nancy posts recipes, movie reviews and so much more. She recently did a post about Chocolate Themed Reads for Kids that I loved. Her blog is really helpful especially when you want to find a new recipe. You definitely should check it out.

I must say that this has been a fantastic week. Raylan and I have enjoyed the sunshine and have definitely made the most of it. Anyway let's get to my favorites from this past week.

1) Justin and I have been attempting to redecorate our home a little at a time. We haven't accomplished much yet but we did manage to buy a new TV so that's a start right? I'm excited though lol

2) Raylan made his first trip down a slide. At first, I thought he was going to enjoy it until he actually started sliding down. Then he didn't like it at all and started wanting off.

3) We were able to go to the park twice this week. Raylan had a blast and so did I. I loved watching him run and play. He truly is my best friend.

4) Now that spring is here, I'm thinking of a makeover. Help me decide what I should do with my hair. Which colors suit me best?

5) Our Relay for Life team had our first team meeting for the year. It was a success. Due to the previous weather, we have had to postpone it until now. I'm excited about all of our fundraising ideas and can't wait until relay. Raylan and the kiddos at the meeting had a blast too.

Well that's a wrap for me. I hope everyone has a wonderful fun filled weekend :) May God bless you!

The Real Easter Bunny

With Easter fastly approaching us, it's time to start doing some Easter activities. We should always teach our children the true meaning of Easter but while we are doing that we can let them have fun as well. My search on Pinterest brought me this neat idea. It's The Real Easter Bunny. You can have your children make one of their own or you can print this out and show them. It's a great way to teach them the true meaning of Christ's death, burial and resurrection. It's a fun idea to incorporate Jesus and the Easter bunny

This week's featured blogger is Jaelan@Making Mrs. M. Like myself, she loves animals, crafting and baking. I love one of her recent posts about how to get winged eye liner. She has some pretty great posts that you should read.

I can't believe Friday is already here. It has been a fabulous week and it has flown by. Let's get to my favorites.

1) Justin took me out on a date night and I actually got pampered a little after dinner. If anyone knows my husband, then they know that he is not a patient man. But he treated me to getting my nails done and actually waited while I got them done.
It has been 4 years since I had my nails done. Yes you heard that right 4 years. It was long over due. I chose a spring color with an Easter theme. I love them! My husband knew that I needed to relax.

2) We had a surprise birthday party for my aunt Janet that has lung cancer. You can read more about that here . She had such a wonderful time and so did I. I'm so glad that we could do this for her.

3) Raylan celebrated his 2nd St. Patrick's Day. I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast. Look how much he has changed in just a year.
He wasn't even a month old here. I wish he was still this little :(

He looked so stinkin cute here

of course we had to match on St. Patty's Day!

4) We watched a breathtaking sunset the other evening and I must share this photo. I'm in awe of God's beauty.

Isn't God's coloring book amazing!

5) For all of those who walk, jog or run download the app Charity Miles. It tracks how far you have walked/jogged/ran and it also donates so much to the charity of your choice. It's a great free app that goes to a good cause.

Surprise party for my aunt

My aunt Janet found out last year that she has small cell lung cancer. It is a fast spreading Cancer that is non curable. Over the past year she has had to endure so much. She has had surguries and chemotherapy. There have been days that she hasn't even been able to get out of bed. For a brief time she went into remission, but now the cancer is back. The oncologists are only giving her 3-6 months to live but we know that God is the only one who knows this.

Janet has always been the life of the party so for her birthday, we wanted to throw her a surprise party. Janet's two daughters and son along with myself, started party planning about a month and a half ago. We made a private Facebook event to set things in motion. We invited several family and friends. We invited several family members which she hadn't seen in years. We also invited family and friends who lived out of state who she would have never guessed would be there.

Her first expression when she entered the room and saw everyone there.

She was so shocked and happy. I just love this photo.

Her favorite colors are yellow, lilac and blue. We tried to encorporate all of these colors into the party.

Of course I made the cake

We did a single yellow rose on each table for the centerpieces. Yellow roses are her favorite. This is my dad and his sister Brenda.

Aunt Jan, myself and Raylan

Myself and aunt Jan again

My aunt and her children

I love this photo. She was so excited to see my dad.

My brother and my aunt.

My aunt and her siblings

Her granddaughter Lexi smearing cake in her face lol

We were able to get a photo of everyone

I am so pleased with how it turned out. We had such a good crowd. She really enjoyed herself and so did we. It meant the world to see the look of pure joy on her face. I am very close to her and I only pray that God lets her live a lot longer. She has been such a big influence in my life. She is such a joy to be around. I'm so thankful God blessed us to share this special day with her.

Becoming Christ Like

Becoming Christ like doesn't mean that we have to live in a bubble or a shell. It doesn't mean that we have to be a dull person. It doesn't mean that we lose our individuality. God created each person unique, so he doesn't want us to lose that. To be Christ like means to transform your character, not your personality. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. Meaning we need to be more like Christ.

Ephesians 4:22-24 says That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

To be Christ like is to throw away our old nasty habits and strive to be more pure. Sure we all have bad habits. We all slip up and say things we shouldn't say. None of us are perfect. We all sin daily. But we must try to live as Christ like as possible.

We shouldn't have to tell people that we are a Christian, they should be able to sense that by our actions. Non believers watch Christian's every move. We need to be a light to everyone even other Christians. If you continue to keep a sweet and patient spirit while you're going through times of hardship and suffering, that light will burn even brighter, catching the eyes and the curiosity of even more people.

As Christians we don't need to be hateful or rude. We need to be kind, lend a helping hand to those in need. We also should not be judgemental. God is the only one that can judge.

Matthew 5:16 says Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

To be a Christian is to be like Christ. If you sit down and think about it, would Christ be acting like we do? That will really get you thinking.

Downsizing the Diaper Bag

For over a year I have carried a shoulder breaking diaper bag. It had everything under the sun in it. I also carried a purse too. All while carrying my child to and from places. Once Raylan got off formula and on whole milk, I started packing a thermal bag too for his milk. Here is what I have been dealing with up until now.

I had been packing all 3 of these bags. It was just too much. I would much rather stay home than to have to pack all of these. It wore me out. So I took the plunge and ordered a bag big enough for me and Raylan. I purchased this beautiful Periwinkle Merona bag from Target for only $34.99

It has 3 large compartments. It's perfect for me and Raylan and It's perfect for spring.

I use the two outer compartments for me and use only the middle compartment for all of Raylan's things. I just pack his necessary items and those include
-Sippy Cup
-Snacks
-Diapers
-Wipes
-Diaper Rash Ointment
-Extra Outfit

I also include this Thirty One Mini Zipper Pouch (Polka Dots not in stock)  with some Tylenol, a syringe,  a thermometer and an extra paci.

These are must haves. You never know when you will need these.

Since I have downsized, my life as a mommy has been much more simple. Now I don't dread leaving the house for fear of having to tackle all of those bags. This one bag is so much easier to pack. It's a purse and a mom bag. My shoulders don't feel like they are breaking anymore either. Thank God for big purses.

I'd love to hear from you. What are your Diaper Bag Downsizing ideas?
