"Stop Casting Stones...Why You Should Extend Grace"

We are living in perilous times. It seems like everyone is so full of judgement and hate. Everyone seems to always have something bad to say about someone. There have been so many bad things that have happened lately and instead of everyone lifting each other up, they are tearing each other down.

We have had the Gorilla incident at the Cincinnati Zoo and the tragic Alligator attack in Florida. There has been so much judgement placed on the parents. Why is this? No one is perfect. That could have been any parent, myself included.  I for one know how quickly a child can get away from you. And with the Alligator attack, that should never have been something to even place blame on the parents about. Any parent would let their child wade in shallow water, I know I would if I were there with my son. Parents want to let their children play and have fun.  No one would have thought that an Alligator would have been there, especially if  they had never been there before.

Why are people so quick to judge others? Jesus said in John 8:7, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone."

No one is perfect! Only Jesus was without sin. Romans 3:23 says "We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." So we are in no place to judge anyone.

What we need to be doing is extending grace. We need to speak words to build each other up, not bring others down.  We don't need to condemn others. We need to emphasize mercy, not justice. We also need to realize that there is also going to be people who are different from us. It's not our place to judge them or try to change them. We just need to pray for them.  We need to realize that while God is working on others, he is also still working on us. I pray that God will continue to work on me to help me be the Christian that he wants me to be. We need to be humble and realize that we are only humans.  We all need to be more understanding. It is because of God's grace that we are saved. (Ephesians 2:8-9). None of us deserve grace, but God loved us and saw us worthy of his grace. We need to extend grace and be more Christ like. So stop casting stones, start extending grace and love like Jesus does.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8
