Every August, my family and I look forward to attending Airport Days. It's an annual event held at the Big Sandy Regional Airport located within our county. It's a fun-filled day with plenty to see and do.

The Big Sandy Regional Airport  holds the event from noon until 6pm. There are Airplane rides which were at reduced rates of only $15 per person this year. There are many planes and helicopters on display to view and also a Car and Bike Show to participate in.  There is also great festival food and refreshments to eat or the choice of a restaurant.

Raylan loved everything and did not want to leave. He especially loved the Car show as well as did my car enthusiast husband. Raylan also loved watching the planes take off and come back for landing. There were many planes to see but Raylan's favorites were the army helicopter, the maroon airplane, the Kentucky State Trooper helicopter and the mini plane with Spider man. He was too afraid to fly. I would have loved for us all to have taken a plane ride together. It would have made for some great memories, but Raylan wasn't having it. Maybe next year he will go up for a ride! He did get to sit inside the army helicopter and he loved that. The army helicopter was a big hit with all of the kids. It made for some great pictures. There were a lot of planes that children could sit inside of.  We spent most of the day there enjoying all the sights and then had dinner at the delicious Cloud 9 Cafe that is last pictured. Cloud 9 is located directly right behind the airport and is the most adorable little place. Inside, is just as lovely as the outside. The inside is decorated in vibrant colors and paintings of Sunshine and Clouds. Cloud 9 has the most amazing Philly Cheesesteaks Sandwiches that you will ever eat. 

Airport Days is such a fun event with much to do. If you are ever in Eastern Kentucky in August, please plan to stop and experience Airport Days and the Cloud 9 Cafe. You and your children will have a blast while making plenty of memories. What child doesn't want to see airplanes?
