Hiking New River Gorge - Della Devoted

Hiking New River Gorge

Over the Labor Day Weekend, my family and I took a Day Trip to Princeton, WV. I just love Day Trips, don't you? Justin had to go haul something for one of his friends and on our way back home, we discovered one of the prettiest places I have ever seen. It was the New River Gorge! It had always heard how pretty it was, but had never seen it in person. So of course with such a beautiful sight, we stopped to hike it and take in all of the beautiful scenery.

Raylan loved hiking along the Tunnel Trail. It was a shady forest like trail that included several sections of stairs and a dimly light tunnel to pass through.

Raylan's favorites were the caves and tunnels.

The rock formations were so unique.

One section of the hike included a picnic area with a rock climbing wall and a playground for children to play on.
 This was the Grandview Overlook.

Look at this breathtaking view that you could see from the Overlook. Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?

I wish that we wouldn't have been pressed for time because there is so much to see and do while at New River Gorge. There are 7 hiking trails in total just alone at the Grandview area that we was at. I would loved to have hiked them all so that I could see everything. Some of the trails lead to waterfalls that I would loved to have seen.

If you like to hike or just take scenic drives, I highly suggest stopping and staying a while at New River Gorge. There is so much to see and do. We saw several deer on our drive and beautiful flowers, not to mention the glorious sights we saw on the trail. There are biking and hiking trails, rock climbing, paddling and kayaking activities, waterfalls to see, picnic and play areas, historical sights and last but certainly not least, the New River Gorge Bride that is 876 feet high. It is the third-highest bridge in the country.

I'm so glad my family and I got experience such a beautiful sight. I'm a huge nature lover and get a thrill from seeing and photographing everything there is to see in nature.  So this trip absolutely made my day. I can't wait to go back and see more, especially the waterfalls.
