We all have bad days here and there, but sometimes it seems like we have a lot of bad days. There are times when I seem to constantly be in a bad mood for no particular reason at all. I have always dealt with Anxiety Issues but sometimes it really gets the best of me and leads to panic attacks. This is when I know I really have to work on myself and find ways to calm myself and boost my mood. Self- Care and Mental Health is very very important and should not be taken lightly. Here are some tried and true ways that have always seemed to help me. I hope they help you too!
Happiness is Homemade! It's something you create!
- Pray
- Read my Bible and meditate on scripture
- Reading a book in general
- Take a break from Social Media
- Get out in Nature- go for a walk, hike or anything as long as you are outdoors.
- Engage in your favorite hobby- I love photography, so I enjoy getting out in nature and photographing it.
- Self- Care- Take time to relax, take a nap, take a long hot shower or bubble bath, pamper yourself, buy yourself something, go to bed earlier, so long as you find a way to take care of yourself.
- Watch a Comedy- Everyone could always use a good laugh.
- Listen to your favorite music- Uplifting music is best to boost your mood.
- Stay away from Negative People
- Start Saying No- It's impossible to do everything for everyone. When you try to do for everyone, you are scraping the bottom of the barrel and don't leave any room for yourself. It's okay to say no! You don't have to go everywhere or do everything that someone asks of you. If it is going to wear you out and drag you down, just say no! You can't help others when you don't take time to refill yourself.
- Watch the Birds- My favorite way to relax is by sitting on our porch, sipping coffee, watching and listening to the birds. They are always so happy and cheerful.
- Lend a helping hand- The best way to cheer yourself up is by lending a helping hand or giving back to others.
- Engage in a Do-it-yourself project- Take the time to start a new project you have been wanting to do, do house updates, use your organization skills, or anything that you have been putting off.
- Go for a drive and sight see
- Go to your favorite place to relax- Mine would be the beach, but since we don't live anywhere near the beach then lake is my second happy place.
- Essential Oils- They really do work! Honestly, they do! I use the Gurunanda brand from Walmart. The lavender helps soothe, calm and relax. I rub a little on both wrists and it helps me to relax and get a good night's rest.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
