When the holidays arrive, there are many things to look forward to. The company of your loved ones, the cosiness of your home and those long winter nights, and the glistening Christmas trees and fairy lights that create a warm glow wherever you go. In short, there are many reasons why we all wait for the season with bated breath, wondering when we can put our cosy clothes on and begin buying thoughtful gifts for our family and friends.

However, one of the best things about the holidays is the food, and there’s nothing quite like chowing down on some of the tastiest belly-warming dishes as the winter rolls around. 12 Ways to Prepare for Christmas Before Thanksgiving

It seems like when Thanksgiving and Christmas time is near, it is such a stressful time when it should be the most enjoyable time. I love both holidays but I absolutely love Christmas. It really is the most wonderful time of year. I love celebrating the birth of Christ, but I feel like I really don't get to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas like I should. We are always in the hustle and bustle of things trying to get everything cooked, decorated perfectly and finding the perfect gift. Now that I have my son and he is at the age to really enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas, I want the holidays to be slower paced. I want to teach him to give thanks and teach him about the birth of Christ. I want to just bask in the wonderfulness of it all.  Here is what you can do now so that you can have a more relaxing Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hearty Potato Soup

There is nothing better than a hot steamy bowl of potato soup when you’re sick. It’s the perfect comfort food. It’s also perfect for those cold  fall days like we are currently having. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of when my mom would make my brother and I Hearty Potato Soup. It's a recipe that I hold very near and dear to my heart. However, it's one that I would love to share with you because I know you will love it as much as we do.

Eggplant, or Aubergine depending which side of the pond you reside on is a vegetable that is often overlooked. This purple veggie is often seen as slimy and soft, and many of us avoid cooking it because it can be a bland addition to the table. However, the only reason why you might find this vegetable boring is if you don’t cook it right, and it can actually be a wonderful addition to a myriad of nutritious and delicious dishes.
